From the Tune of a Hum

Every once and a while I get all "Inspired" and decide to record some of the melodies that I start humming out of nowhere. Lately I've had a very mellow smooth jazz/blues feel going through my head. So, I've decided to gather up some instruments and try to bring it to life. Here's the intro...(The rest is still in the works). Enjoy Peeps.

Good Times...

I was taking a stroll down "Internet lane" when I suddenly came across a video that brought back some great memories. Ahhh...nothing better than long hair and distortion eh? Oh, and lot's of Delay! The quality is not that good but you can make it out. I hope you enjoy. If not, listen to Mute Math. They're good for the soul!

Treadmill Worship

I consider myself a "busy" person. I try to balance my time as wise as possible. I've come to notice that while managing my time between work and personal life I sometimes exclude God from my "schedule". My excuse: I'm tired. Pretty weak huh? But wait, let me explain. You see, I teach throughout the week and High School students can totally suck the energy right out of you. Also, I have numerous video projects I'm working on and video editing can become pretty tedious work. (Especially if you're working with After Effects). Then there are meetings. Oh how can I forget the meetings! Productive:Yes - Necessary:Yes - Long and Tiresome: Absolutely! Sometimes my day consists of meeting after meeting. Do I have a valid excuse yet? What about the fact that I'm married and I need to spend time with my wife. I mean, God has to understand right?

Today God answered my question.

For the past week I've been working out and trying to get my fatty self back in shape. One of the things that I enjoy doing is running, and if you run for a long time it can get pretty boring. So, like many other people living in the "Now" I run with an iPod. Pumps me up and keeps me going man. Today, I decided to hop on a treadmill and challenge my legs to a constant fast pace run. The goal was 30 minutes. I prepared my iPod with some pretty sick rock to get my chunky legs motivated and went for my goal. About 20 minutes into the run my rock music was letting me down man. My legs were killing me and body was begging me to quit. Suddenly, my iPod switched to some worship music and I was like "What the heck! I can't run to I love you Jesus". I tried to change it but almost fell off the punk treadmill so I decided to suck it up for the couple of minutes I had left. After about a minute I found myself worshiping God in tears......While running! Weird man!

I was so into it that my 30 minute run lasted an hour and 10 minutes. It was so awesome. I completely forgot about my hurting legs, my aching back and my desire to quit. I just kept running. I was so deep into my time with God that the fact that i was "Tired" completely left my mind which was now consumed with the "Awesome-ness" and "incomprehensible" glory of God. Man, It was just one of those moments...Totally awesome. So, if you're one of those people with the "I'm tired" excuse... Drop it! just think of the fact that a "tired" chunky dude in the middle of a will testing run kept on going just to dwell a couple of more minutes in the moment you're giving an excuse to miss out on. Well, I learned my lesson!

Here are a few things that went on in the past couple of weeks....

The Gift Revolution Intro from Flamingo Road Church on Vimeo.

2) Amy and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary! We had a blast! (by the way, she bought me a Playstation 3) Coolest wife ever.

3) I cut my hair. I'm not going lie....pretty liberating stuff. Ladies, forget that pretty long hair. Shave your heads! You have no idea what you are missing out on. (or not)

4) I've really been loving the whole public speaking thing. It took me a while to get out of my comfort zone but I've grown to love it. Never would I have thought that I would be standing in front of hundreds of people educating them, inspiring them, and motivating them. Not in my wildest dreams. (and my dreams are pretty wild...and weird) All I can do is thank God for the doors he has and will continue to open in my life. (Don't worry, I'm thankful for the closed ones too)

All in all...I'm healthy, my family is healthy, I love my wife and the Turkey was pretty darn good.
