Update...

Here are a few things that went on in the past couple of weeks....

1) TheGiftRevolution.com
The Gift Revolution Intro from Flamingo Road Church on Vimeo.

2) Amy and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary! We had a blast! (by the way, she bought me a Playstation 3) Coolest wife ever.

3) I cut my hair. I'm not going lie....pretty liberating stuff. Ladies, forget that pretty long hair. Shave your heads! You have no idea what you are missing out on. (or not)

4) I've really been loving the whole public speaking thing. It took me a while to get out of my comfort zone but I've grown to love it. Never would I have thought that I would be standing in front of hundreds of people educating them, inspiring them, and motivating them. Not in my wildest dreams. (and my dreams are pretty wild...and weird) All I can do is thank God for the doors he has and will continue to open in my life. (Don't worry, I'm thankful for the closed ones too)

All in all...I'm healthy, my family is healthy, I love my wife and the Turkey was pretty darn good.

Peace....

About 4 months ago I was pulled over by a Police officer for speeding. About 3 miles over the speed limit to be exact. Yes I know, I'm a rebel! Anyway, the cop was pretty cool and explained to me how strictly enforced the speed limit was in that area. He ended up giving me a ticket and well, it was my first ticket EVER! But that's not the worst part.

Recently, I found out that my license was suspended. I forgot to handle my ticket. I payed it all off today and I'm back on the road! So, watch out Miami, I'm going 3mph faster than all of you!

My experience went a little somethin' like this:

The year was 1993...

Nightmare before Christmas hit theaters and Kids all over were swarming to their nearest Burger King to get a hold of one of these watches. I remember begging my parents everyday after School to take me to BK (Burger King) just so that I can have a watch. The only thing that sucked is that I always got the same one. I had like eight identical Jack Skellington watches. But I was a smart little fellow and managed to trade them with fellow collectors who had the ones I needed and needed the one I had. As for the movie....it was the talk of Fairlawn Elementary School! We memorized the songs, memorized the lines, and had the merchandise. Yeah....I don't know how many times I've seen it but I can tell you that it's......alot. So, to get to the point. Today, Amy bought me this!
I feel like a little kid again. Too bad I have no idea what happened to those watches. Maybe I traded them for something....I don't doubt it.

YouthLink@Dolphins Stadium

YouthLink/Dolphins Event from Kenny Blanco on Vimeo.

A couple of weeks ago we held an event for youth at Dolphins Stadium. It was incredible. Kids made personal decisions to commit, recommit and abstain! There were games, shows, music and of course....a Dolphins game. We even had the kids on the field with the players. Thanks to Wayne Huizenga Jr. and the Miami Dolphins for having us. Thanks to all of the volunteers for their hard work and help in making this incredible event happen. And thanks to all of the amazing leaders and workers of Youth Link for their hard work to accomplish a God-Sized vision to impact our community. Like Craig Groeschel says "There are good ideas and God ideas." THIS was definitely a GOD idea!

Busyness of life

Well, the school year has started and my plate is full. I just completed a lesson at Killian High School. Awesome bunch man I had a blast! Also, I have a few filming projects that I'm currently working on that are pretty cool. Some which include animation. What the heck is going on with me man? I'm becoming a nerd! It's all good though....I'm married!
Anyway, work is busy, church is moving forward and I'm having loads of fun being a part of it all. But, don't get me wrong, I enjoy being busy and all but a man needs his rest. So, Amy and I scheduled our vacation for this year. We're going to spend Christmas in New York this year. We had so much fun on our trip last year that we decided to repeat it. We attended the Macy's day parade, skated at Rockefeller center, visited all the Museums, and so much more. We love New York. All I need is an open opportunity and I'll live there! Seriously....I just need to convince the wife. It's all good....5th Ave. is enough to encourage her. Well, that's all for now.....I'm busy!

High School Memories....

"The SWAS!!!"

Ok, for those of you who don't know what the"SWAS!!!" is.....Basically, you hold a regular conversation with someone but the word "What" when said has a consequence. That consequence is a loud, annoying "SWAS!!!. I know I know it's immature, but it cracks me up! Here's an example:

Here's a snack for ya'

Today, for my quiet time I went back to my notes from the Leadership Summit. I had a whole mess of information poured into me that weekend. I took an insane amount of notes but let me share with you something that I am currently "chewing" on. During his presentation, Gary Haugen said something that completely boggled my mind. Something that is considered "Basic Knowledge" for any Christian....BUT the challenge is set in the action. Ok, so here it is...."You will never know Life that is truly life until you are fully and uncompromisingly yielded to Christ."

Let me exaggerate this for you....."You will NEVER know LIFE that is TRULY LIFE until you are FULLY and UNCOMPROMISINGLY YIELDED to Christ"

So basic huh? I'm sure you've heard the whole "Christ died for you now live for Him" speech and many others like it spun in many different ways but STOP! Chew on it! Let it set...word for word. I hope this blesses you.

-Peace

Misha's Cupcakes

About two years ago a co-worker at my old job decided to do something nice for the office. She bought us all Cupcakes. Mini-Cupcakes! I remember grabbing the cute little cupcake and not thinking much of it. I've had many cupcakes in my life and honestly, they all tasted very similar. So, that's exactly what I expected from this miniature treat. Once I put that little taste of heaven in my mouth it was bliss. Never in my life have I tasted a cupcake so sweet, so soft, so moist....mmm mmm mmm! I couldn't help but ask where she bought them and she told me that they were a small business based here in Miami. The Name: Misha's Cupcakes.

Ok, so here is the point to my story. Apparently Amy noticed that there was a Misha's cupcakes booth/station in dadeland mall and finally got the chance to try one of the little suckers that I've nagged her about for about two years now. She loved them! She like them so much that she surprised me for my birthday with a cake personalized by Misha. How awesome is that? Totally Awesome! My wife Rocks!!! The cake was amazing and it made a fan out of everyone who tried that amazing taste. The big cake tasted just like the cupcake. mmm mmm mmm! I want everyone to try a misha's cupcakes. They are that good. Yes Sir!!!, Amazing! If you haven't had one yet, make it a priority to eat one as soon as possible!

(Eerie music playing in the background) The day was Thursday. Amy and I went to Publix to stock up on groceries. The rain was heavy and the road was dangerous. Thankfully, we made it home. As we entered our home Lola came running to greet us. But wait, something's not right. Something's missing.....Where's Louie? We searched the Rooms...No Louie. Under the bed?...No Louie. Under the Couch?....No Louie. Where could he be? Suddenly, I heard a noise coming from the bathroom in our room. "Louie, is it you?" I asked in a girly voice.... There he was folks! Nervous, Scared, and hiding in shame. He was playing with the toilet paper!

Sick Nasty!

Bro! I loved this movie! This movie worked wonders for my energy levels that only Red Bull can dream about. First, there were parts where you really wanted the dude to die...(It's a movie. I promise I'm still a Christian) Anyway, Rambo is face to face with the "Bad Guy" but he's surrounded and has no option but to surrender. No Sir! He's Rambo! All of a sudden....Slash! Gunfire! Screams! Body parts! and booya! he strikes a pose.....FLEX!!!....can anyone say Cheesy and over the Top?........BUT AWESOME!!!!! That movie had me yelling "Oh!" "Dirty!" and of course...."Hahaha". The only thing that I didn't like about it is the fact that he had too much dialogue. Growing up, my father and i would watch the trilogy together all the time. If you've seen them you would know that John Rambo is a HUGE killer and a SMALL talker. I noticed him trying to get all poetic and sentimental at times with sayings like "Live for nothing or die for something." But then he turned my screen red and I forgot all about it. Definitely not an Academy Award winner OR nominee...BUT...TOTALLY entertaining. For me at least.....

Suffering from Mac Narcolepsy?

Last night I had to upload some stuff into my computer and my connection was extremely slow. So, I set up everything to upload properly and let it upload overnight. My computer went to sleep! Automatically logged me off-line and paused my upload. No! I was so upset. Especially because I had a deadline. I wanted to make sure this would NEVER happen again so I was in search for a solution. There are ways to do this in your preferences (Which I should have done) but, I don't need my computer on all the time. I want it to sleep on it own...Just not when I have some important uploading. So, for all of you who have had the same problem in the past, here is the Solution.... Give your Mac Caffeine! It will stay on all night long as long as you have coffee in your cup. Basically, you have a cool little coffee cup icon at the top right menu of the screen and when you click it on, "Hot Coffee" will appear in you cup. When you click it off, your left with an empty cup. Pretty neat app I must say. If you want it...get it!

Let's make it a Blockbuster night.

Today, Amy and I went to Blockbuster to rent a movie but what we got a lot more than we bargained for. They had a great selection in the "Buy 3 for $20" Section. They had so many "good" selections to choose from I didn't know which ones to pick. So, I decided not to be selfish and narrow it down. Amy really wanted to see "The Golden Compass" so, that's one! As I skimmed through movies I noticed a movie that screamed "Your dad would love this!" so I had to get it. The new "Rambo" flick. My father is a Rambo movie buff and he still hasn't seen the new one so, you're welcome Pop. That's two! Now, just one more movie left....I made sure to look at every one just to make sure that I pick the right one, and there it was. I missed you at the movies, I missed you as a rental but now I get to own you...Sweeney Todd! It's a great story, It's a bit gruesome, and....it's a musical! Not to mention Mr. Depp and Mr. Burton collaborating yet again. I liked it a lot. It's one of those movies I believe that's not for everyone but it is definitely worth watching at least once. So, I suppose that has totally made my Sunday a success don't you think?

I just recently got home from the first annual Flamingo Road Film Festival. It was fantastic! I must admit, I had a blast. All the videos were amazing! No lie, there are some insanely Talented/Gifted people in this place and I am so stoked to be working and most importantly learning from them all. I'll write a bit more about it later but right now, check out this cool video edited by Mr. Miguel Umanzor. It's basically a whole year of awesome work from the Media team. This is our God

Today I had the opportunity to listen to the new Hillsong album "This is our God" and let me tell you...I was literally brought to tears. The Worship was incredible. I'm not going to go off and judge it aside any of their previous works. It's Hillsong. They continue to bring us great songs that allow us to lavish our God with the Worship He deserves. You just can't help it. Aside from that, the DVD is incredible. The lighting, Filming, Stage Design =Equals= Wow! Not to mention that it was filmed at the Acer Arena. (Huge!!!) Check it out!

Has anyone ever given you the "You got a problem" look? For example, let's say you're in the grocery store and someone skips you. They disrespectfully cut in front of you and give you the "What? You got a problem?" look?

Well, today was that day for me. This morning as I was exiting my community there was a peacock crossing the street. (Side note: You know how many communities have ducks? Well, we have peacocks.) Anyway, I stop to let it pass and then it happened....
The lazy bird was taking it's sweet time crossing the street and the cars behind me weren't too happy. So, I inched up slowly to scare it a bit so it can cross the street quicker... but the bird wasn't having it. Instead, he did something that absolutely shocked me. It gave me....the look! It stopped, turned it's head and threatened me with it's eyes saying "Dude, I'll kill you if you do that again". So, I let it pass. That bird earned my respect. It stood up to a car people!

Quite a stupid story, I know. But how often does a peacock size you up? No matter how inane the story may be, I had to share. Totally blog-worhty I believe. I hope you enjoyed it.

Saturday night movie fun

If you haven't seen "The Incredible Hulk" yet I strongly advise you to check it out. Last Saturday Amy and I went along with some friends and let me just say, It was great! Due to the embarrassment that was the previous Hulk movie, this one's definitely one of my favorite Marvel movies to date. The action was intense, the story was awesome and it was very well done. I took my little brother with us and he was going nuts. But I'm not going to lie, you couldn't tell the difference between the both of us. I felt like I was in second grade all over again. As you can see from the photo above, Hulk wasn't too happy about Jean playing with his nipples. But obviously Jean didn't care, he's stoked!

The Wombats

If you don't know who they are, listen and enjoy. Real cool band from Liverpool. If you really like the song it is available for free at itunes. Hurry!

One Sweet Saturday

I had such a great day yesterday. I picked up Coia bright and early and headed over to the Biltmore to play some Golf. I personally love the game of golf. It's a great way to unwind, converse, and it's a fantastic stress reliever. I've been playing a little over a year now and let me tell you, I'm still hooked. The Biltmore was fantastic. The course was beautiful. Challenging obstacles, beautiful atmosphere, and basically, they make sure to spoil you. Coia didn't want to play so he basically drove the cart while I played the course. It was great. It was so relaxing. Also, I got my best score so far and got a Birdie in the second hole. (A Big Thanks to Coia and Kelsey for the great morning) That night I attended a family dinner celebrating Amy's grandfather's birthday. My parents prepared homemade fried rice and a delicious lo mein. After the food, conversation, and a round of Dominos with my competitive parents, Gerry and I watched Juno and I went home. What a great day....What a RELAXING day.

Unexpected-Ness...

Let's get to the point..I got in my car this morning and it didn't turn on. I don't get it. No lights were left on, It drove perfectly fine the night before, what's going on with my car? I took a look under the hood and there it was Watson....Battery Acid spillage. The freaking battery peed all over the place. I don't know how it happened but it didn't really matter. Fact is, I needed to get it fixed pronto. So, I went to the nearest auto store bought a new battery, replaced it, and I was on my way. Well that's it. There's no better place to be "stranded" than home.

Louie...

Well, for those of you who don't know, I love English Bulldogs. I have a Bully girl named Lola who is almost two years old now. She's a blast! and SPOILED rotten! Anyway, for some time now Amy and I have been discussing getting her a boy to play around with and to keep her company. Basically, a companion. Now, here's the thing. I don't really want to own any other type dog. I'm a Bulldog man! Amy on the other hand really doesn't want another Bulldog. Their a medium size breed, stubborn, and a bit of a handful as puppies. Basically, she wants a little dog.......ugh....

So, we compromised and decided on a "French Bulldog". (Small, Energetic, and it's got "Bulldog" in his breed) Luckily, during our trip to New York City we actually saw a couple walking their French Bully through Central Park and we had the opportunity to pet it, play with it a bit and get some feedback from it's owners on the breed. I have to admit, it was cool. It was a smaller version of Lola with "bat-like" ears. It was settled. Though my heart was set on a big fat boy, I was fine with the Frenchie. So we looked up breed info, breeders, prices etc. Then surprise! surprise! It's WAY too expensive! I thought that the English Bulldog was the most expensive dog I've seen but this one took the cake. It was way out of our budget so we just dropped the idea.

A couple of months later, the subject came up again about getting Lola a companion and this time i was victorious! Amy said, "You can get your fat boy" Yes!!! Another butterball around the house ...Score!!! I went everywhere...comparing prices, contacting breeders, making sure that the puppies were healthy and also, I had "Specifications". Lola is White and Fawn. I wanted the boy to be Dark Brown and White-and I wanted the little monkey chubby as can be. I kindly let my contacts know exactly what I was looking for and they were all keeping me posted on their litters.

Last Thursday on our way home, Amy and I stopped by one last pet shop to see if they had my butterball. Amy stayed in the car because we had Lola with us (I told you she was spoiled) I asked the guy if he had any bulldogs and before he could say anything I noticed a little punk standing all tough barking at me. The man noticed me staring at him and without my asking he took him out of the kennel and handed him to me. I quickly called Amy and told her to get out of the car and bring Lola with her. Once she saw him she melted. "Oh Kenny he's gorgeous!" she said, while Lola was trying to take him off my hands. While on the floor the little punk was pulling Lola by her leash and leading her around the pet shop. So, "Amy, do you want him?" I asked. "Are you serious?" she replied. "Do you want him?" I repeated. "Yes!!!" she exclaimed.

Basically, to make an even longer story short. Amidst our search for a Fat English bully we, found and welcomed to our family a French Bulldog Puppy we named Louie....

I might not have my butterball but hey, he's a funny little dude and Lola loves him! But honestly, I put a smile on my wife's face and that's all that truly matters to me most.

So...

I downloaded the new song from Coldplays new album and let me tell you...I like it. At first I was like "What the heck is this" but after listening to it for about the fourth time, taking in the lyrics, instruments, and other cool sounds they have going on - It's a freakin' cool song. I like where they went with this album. I'm eager to hear the rest of the album. I LOVE the name of the album! one the most interesting titles I've heard since "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness" by the Smashing Pumpkins. They named it "Viva La Vida or Death and all HIs Friends". Awesome! Also, the cover art is amazing. It's actually a painting by Eugène Delacroix called "Liberty Leading the People". I'm sure that when you see it it'll look familiar. If you have ever taken an art class, Art history, etc. I'm sure that if you haven't disussed it, you've at least seen it. Anyway.....I like the New Song "Violet Hill", I like the Cover Art and love the name. So far, So good!

Well...

I know i've been away from my blog for a while but hey, what can I say? I'm a busy man. The past month has been very hectic, intense yet extremely rewarding! First, I left my Job of two years due to new opportunities presented to me that I am extremely excited about. That law firm spoiled thte heck out of me man. For a moment I actually had to think about leaving that place because it was just so...comfortable. Great people, great atmosphere, simple work and great pay...a total spoiler. But, I realize that that's just not me. I'm not an office junkie. I know that's not my purpose in life. Now, don't get me wrong...THAT PLACE WAS A BLESSING!!!! It pretty much kick-started my life personally, socially, and especially financially. I still thank God for opening those doors for me and now I've noticed that He has directed me elsewhere. Full time Christian Ministry! Can I be honest? It's great! The people I work with are awesome! -funny, talented, smart and no lie.....I've heard some of their conversations / debates on bible matters and these people don't play. They know their bible! My first day of work I was actually kind of intimidated but these people are just an absolute pleasure to be around with and i'm extremely excited to see what God has in store for me there. Also, three weeks ago I started a medical weight-loss program with Dr. Hernandez. I've come to realize that I was "Stress Eating" and honestly, I needed some help. So, I decided to do something about it and consulted a professional. They put me on a diet plan, gave me my medicine and sent me on way to recovery. My goal for the fist month was 20 pounds. Well, I am proud to say that I went earlier today to get weighed and I lost 22 pounds in three weeks. So, I'm shooting for 30 this month. I'm motivated man! The weight is coming off and I feel wonderful. Stress eating + Amy's great cooking = Fat Husband! But she's been making me healthy foods and keeping me focused on my goal. I have a wonderful support system. Well, that's about it....I'll have another "little person" laughing at a camel for you coming soon.

Remembering Madam Publix Bag...

This is an old blog post of mine that was on my myspace. My only blog on my myspace actually. I just thought it deserved to join the other blogs...oh, if you're wondering, she is still around....

I don't really do this whole blog thing but what the heck...besides, this story is definitely worth it. Basically, I was on my way to work and extremely pressed for time. Everything was going smooth. Traffic wasn't hectic at all, the train made it to downtown fast and the metromover didn't break down. But once I stepped out of that metromover, it all changed... There was this "Woman" - Middle aged, buisness class - carrying her lunch in a publix bag. She was getting out of the metromover aswell and was right in front of me. The Escalator had a line of people so I decided to take the stairs. Guess who wanted to join me? You guessed it, "Madam Publix Bag". It was as if she was racing me to them. Anyway, she was trucking her way towards those stairs but once she started going down them it seemed as if she ran out of freaking gas! One by one - One by One - Holy Crap! I seriously thought this lady was playing with me or something. RECAP: 1)When we got out of the metromover - She got in front of me. 2)Walking towards the stairs - she was behind me and looked like a freaking linebacker trying to get in front of me 3) Down the stairs - She decided to relax, take her time and enjoy each stair one by freaking one. Moving on, there were people painting the rails so sadly, I couldn't go around her. I had to suck it up the whole way down. Mind you, I had about 3 minutes to cross the street get up the elevator and and get to the office. Towards the bottom I was feeling a bit impatient so I decided to go around her and dodge paint cans. She knew I was coming and had her Satanic publix bag waiting for me. One more step towards freedom and.........I tripped on her God forsaken Publix Bag!!! Everyone was asking me "Hey are you ok?" But Madam Publix Bag did a quicktake and kept on walking while swaying her publix bag side to side in victory. To not make this story any longer, I basically got up, limped all the way to my job looking like freaking Quasimodo and managed to make it on time. Next time I see that woman, I'll be waiting with a Costco bag and some running shoes.

It's been a long time......

Lately I've been really productive with my "creativity". I go through some random spurts of inspiration and well, why not seize the moment? Old hobbies of mine have been resurrected and recent ones enhanced. For example, I used to be an "artsy fartsy" kid. Walking around the school with my portfolio and sketches all over my books. (including my bible) I've always loved art. I can't help but admire people who create beautiful, interesting, and original things with their hands. But this is one of those things I like to save for myself. It's mine and mine alone, my own personal hobby that I enjoy when I feel ispired and let it rip. As opposed to art classes that require a certain amount of art projects due YESTERDAY. That's ok....I tried it...Pass! I have many friends that are amazing artists and you would've never known. For me, it's JUST a hobby and lately I've been practicing this hobby quite fervently. I must say, I'm very proud of what my imagination has conjured up. Kinda' wierd but pretty cool. And then theres music.....Ah, my mistress. (Amy knows, she's totally cool with my affair) Melody, Harmony, Rhythm.....Need I say more? I can spend hours sitting down on my couch and just playing my guitar- then putting it down and groovin' on the bass- and if my fingers still work, I'll smack a practice pad around a bit...by the way, Monday...is my Piano day. But lately, I've slowed down on the practicing and have been putting more time into actually writing music. Sam and I co-wrote a song which we will play at Easter service. Also, I've been wrinting lyrics to a couple of arrangements I've had stashed away and they're coming out pretty cool. Think: James Morrison. I really don't plan on getting anything from this other than my own personal satisfaction. Its simply fun. But yeah....just thought I should share.

What a game!

I'm not going to lie, I'm not a giants fan. But I am a Dolphins fan and their perfect searson record was threatened. People try and justify the record by saying that the Pats won more games than the Dolphins did and "it's true" but like Tom Brady said "We didn't win the MOST IMPORTANT game". You see, the dolphins won every game AND the superbowl. The Pats won every game but lost the superbowl. But if it helps them go to sleep at night, let them say whatever they want. Anyway, what a game! We were sitting in the edge of our seats the whole time. Giants' defense were giving every oounce of energy, strength and heart they had in them. Any football fan has to admit "This was a great game!!!" It's going down in history for sure. I lost my voice and i'm pretty sure I lost a few pounds too! At least something this football season made me happy. It's enough our Dolphins shattered our hearts this season but losing our perfect season record would have been the icing on the "Dolphin Let-down" cake.

Congratulations Giants and on behalf of every Miami Dolphins fan - Thankyou!

Give me a break!

The past four days my body has been getting hammered by injuries, colds and "internal affairs" if you know what I mean. Saturday morning I went to the gym and lifted some weights (not too heavy)and jumped rope at home for about 30 minutes. Then my dog wanted to play so I thought "Hey!, let's play". I got a little too into the fun and completely forgot that I have a dog Who's breed is known for how FAT they are. An English Bulldog. We ran around, wrestled, played tug'o'war, and in the midst of my bodyslam "CRACK" went my freakin' back!(Upper Back) That's #1

Sunday we had a Youth Group BBQ/Pool Party for the youth of MBC at my neighbors house. I volunteered to help clean up and while picking up a cooler of soda "CRACK" went my freakin' back! (Lower Back) That's #2

Monday (Martin Luther King Day) My Day off....I did nothing!....well I played some poker with the guys at night but I missed out on some freakin' fun trail riding because of my back. Earlier that day though my stomach wouldn't shut up. (And it wasn't because I was hungry) I think you can take it from here...That's #3

Yesterday was more like my recovery day. My back was feeling better, my stomach was high on Pepto and I couldn't feel more relaxed. But before going to sleep I couldn't help but feel like I had something going on in my throat. It wasn't till I woke-up the next morning that I found exactly what was going on....

TODAY- I'm sick as Dog! Sore throat, stuffy nose, feverish, and at-work! Crap! That's #4

Can't wait til' tomorrow!

Ripley's Believe it or Not! Times Square

When Amy and I went to Ripley's in NY there was a whole section on some dude who had countless gifts. He painted beautifully (he painted on screen...Amazing!), I believe he did gymnastics and a whole bunch of other cool crap that I can't even remember. But what is amazing about this guy is that he was born without a lower torso. No legs! It didn't look like he had any "nalgas" either! Well, this apparently didn't slow him down at all. Another wonderful example of something considered misfortunate - become marvelous. What a Bear!!!
